Frances (Knickerbocker) McCagg, 86, of Kingston, formerly of Poughkeepsie was welcomed into Heaven September 26, 2012 after a long illness. She was born November 21, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Alice Bell and George Knickerbocker.
Frances enjoyed the love and company of her family, her pets, watching tennis and figure skating, gardening and an ice cold beer with her pizza. Her family will especially miss hearing her often used lines, such as, "Where's the Thing? or "Can you get me the Watchamacallit!".
She worked as a Clerk for the United States Postal Service at the Post Office in Poughkeepsie and later in Wappingers Falls for many years until her retirement in November of 1989.
Frances will be missed by her 6 children...Janet Petsas and her husband James of Poughkeepsie, Clinton McCagg and his wife Josie of Melbourne, Australia, Sharon Cunningham and her son, Mike McCagg of Saugerties, Darleen McCagg of Dover Plains, Bee Temple and her husband Alan of Kingston, Gloria Wirhowski and her husband Victor of Kingston. Eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren both here in the U.S. and in Australia. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both her beloved sisters, Shirley Mills and Irene Jones.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY 12466 where a remembrance celebration of Frances' life will take place on Saturday, October 27th at 11:00am. Calling hours on Friday, October 26th from 5pm to 8pm.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association and Hospice of Ulster County.
