Florence Mary "Flo" Davis of Summer St., Kingston died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at TenBroeck Commons Nursing Home. She was 83.
Florence Davis was born in Brooklyn. Her parents died at an early age and she was placed within the Wassaic Developmental Center at age 17 in 1947. She was considered an ambitious worker with strong domestic skills and she was quickly placed into the community placement worker programs throughout the lower Hudson Valley.
Flo has lived in a variety of residential areas of the Hudson Valley most of her life. She resided on Maiden Lane for over twenty-five years, spending the last eight years on Summer Street at the Koenig Residence. She enjoyed singing, dancing and entertaining others and the happiness she derived was infectious.
Many of Flo's friends were from the Kingston Uptown Business Community, including the staffs of the Market Basket, Rage, Norman Personnel and St. Joseph's Church and others. Flo was an active parishioner at St. Joseph's Church.
During her recent illness, the care of Dr. Paul Pietrow, Dr. Paul Donovan and the staffs of the Koenig House and Ten Broeck Commons, made Flo's journey back to God comfortable.
Flo Davis will clearly be missed by all whom she touched with her upbeat personality, especially Rich and Judy Mathews and family, Lorraine and Rob Normann and family and John and Mary Frances Smith.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday, April 12th from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church on Saturday, April 13th at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
