Evelyn W. Gollop of Melbourne, Florida died Monday, September 22, 2008. She was 93.
She was born in Kingston on April 7, 1915, a daughter of the late Pincus and Sarah Effron Weiner.
A graduate of New Paltz College, Mrs. Gollop taught in Kingston. She raised her family and then taught 2nd grade elementary school in Newburgh. She then worked at the family business Bongartz Pharmacy, with her husband.
A member of Temple Emanuel, she belonged to Hadassah.
A longtime Kingston resident, she moved to Florida in 1983. Her husband, Oscar H. Gollop died March 5, 2000. One sister Rae Weiner, and three brothers Morris, Theodore and Max Weiner all died previously.
Surviving are two daughters Doris Zackheim of Melbourne, Florida and Joan Gallagher of New Paltz; four grandchildren Sara Adams, Marjorie Zackheim, Daniel and Karen Gallagher; two great grandchildren Alexander and Julie Adams; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Rabbi Yael Romer will officiate.
