Evelyn M. Rosen of Simmons Street, Saugerties, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at her home. She was 95.
She was born in Baltimore, MD on October 3, 1914, a daughter of the late Louis J. and Frieda Buckantz Myers.
Mrs. Rosen's children attended the Talmudical Academy in Baltimore where she was involved in the Sisterhood.
In 1957 she moved to Asheville, NC. For many years, with her husband Philip, they ran Martin's Shoestore in downtown Asheville. Mrs. Rosen belonged to Beth Israel Synagogue in Asheville.
She moved to Saugerties, NY in 1989 and belonged to the Woodstock Jewish Congregation.
Her husband, Philip Rosen died July 27, 1998. One brother Max E. Myers and four sisters Rose Brafman, Belle Stanley, Dorothy Citrenbaum, and Bertha Mondell Shapiro all died previously.
Surviving are two sons Richard Rosen and his wife Susan of Saugerties, NY and Frank R. Rosen and his wife Wendy of NC; one brother Robert Myers of FL; one sister-in-law Bernice Myers, one brother in law Pete Citrenbaum; six grandchildren Gary and Gail Rosen, Eric Rosen, Samantha and Brian Rifkin, Jill and Jayson Sites, Andrew Rosen and Josh Rosen; four great grandchildren Alex Rosen, Spencer Rosen, Shelby Rosen and Ella Rifkin; many nieces and nephews.
Services at SOL LEVINSON & BROS., INC., 8900 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore on Friday, October 30, at 12 Noon. Interment Bnai Israel Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
Shiva will be observed at the residence of Richard and Susan Rosen on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
