Eugenie Petit Studnicka

Eugenie Petit Studnicka, 88, of Lake Katrine, passed away on April 29th, 2018 at Ten Broeck Commons. She was born August 10th, 1929 in Akron, OH to the late John and Elizabeth (Petit) Marco. She was the wife of Francis Studnicka, who passed away in 2011.

Eugenie was raised in Astoria, Queens. In the early 1960s, She, her husband and daughter moved to Saugerties, NY, where she cared for her mother. Eugenie found a beautiful parcel of land in the woods near the reservoir in Kingston. She and husband built their own A-frame home, where she lived until 2014. She loved being surrounded by nature.

Eugenie, also known as "Mimi" to her family and "Gene" to her friends, was a homemaker and talented landscape artist. She cared very deeply for the less fortunate, and volunteered her time in the Compeer mental health support association. She also donated her time and resources to various animal rescue organizations.

Eugenie is survived by her daughter; Lynn Studnicka of Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, her granddaughter, Tisa Washington, 4 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, her niece, Lisa Hollywood of New York City, her dear family friend, Violet Streich of Olive Bridge, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and family. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother, Elise "Richie" Marco, and her sisters, Yvonne Fulco and Elizabeth Patsas.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 5, 2018, 10am, at St. Catherine Laboure RC Church, 200 Tuytenbridge Road, Lake Katrine, NY 12449. Burial will follow in Mt. Marion Cemetery, Mt. Marion, NY.
