Ethan Allen, Jr., 70, of Chambers Court, Kingston, a long time resident of Port Ewen, died Wednesday, morning June 8, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer. He was born November 29, 1940 in Valley Stream, LI, to the late Ethan and Martha Farrier Allen, Sr.
Mr. Allen had attended Kingston High School; he then enlisted U.S. Marines, attaining the rank of corporal, having served primarily with the 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, based out of Camp Lejeune, NC. He took part in the operation to liberate Lebanon.
Mr. Allen had been employed by Mid Hudson Pam as a foreman for 30 years. He also owned and operated Ethan Allen Archery of Port Ewen for over 40 years. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, archery and outdoor sports. He was a member of Kingston American Post # 150 and Joyce Schirick Post # 1386, VFW.
He is survived by his loving family, a daughter Marietta and her husband Calvin Pentz, a son Ethan Allen, 3rd, step son George Brennan, his long time companion Ann Bonesteel, his brothers and sisters Elaine Wolf, Joan Martin and her husband Donald, Judy Brandt and her husband Charles, Ethana Bosch, Vestella Madison and her husband Donald, William Allen and his wife Linda, Frank Allen and his wife Rosemarie, Larry Allen and his wife Delores, Linda Coddington and her husband Edward, Steven Allen and his wife Patricia, Debbie Golgoski and her husband Allen and Tomi Beck and her husband Robert. 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy Bruce Allen, a daughter Lisa Allen, a brother Robert "Pete" Allen
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, friends may call on Friday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm. A service of Remembrance will be held at 8:00 pm Friday for family and friends. Cremation to follow at the discretion of the family.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Benedictine Hospital Health Foundation, 105 Mary's Ave. Kingston, NY 12401, directed to the Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Cancer Fund.
