Esther Leifer, formerly of Sheepshead Bay, died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was 88.
She was born December 20, 1916 in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Hyman and Rachel Cohen.
During WW II, she served in the Women’s Auxilliary in Brooklyn in support of the war effort. She was a member of the Sisterhood of Congregation Ahavath Israel and a member of the King Solomon Triangle Club.
For 40 years, she was office manager for Henry Segal Men’s Clothing in Brooklyn.
Her husband, Harry Leifer died February 2, 1982.
Loving mother of Howard Leifer and his wife, Ellen, and Rochelle Kahn, sister of the late Charles, Isadore and Joe Cohen and Lillian Honigman. Grandmother of Cindy Binnie and her husband Andrew, Jenny Fox and her husband Dennis, David and Daniel Leifer, Joshua Kahn and great-grandmother of Ian Binnie, Micah and Naava Fox, Brennick Fox and aunt of Edith Pearlman.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:00 am at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. Rabbi Ya-el Romer will officiate. Interment will be in Montefiore Cemetery, St. Albans.
