Esther C. Skilling, 79, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at The Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, NY. She was born April 5, 1931 in Worcester, MA to the late John and Linnea Alexander.
She was married to William (Bill) Skilling who passed away on April 15, 2000.
Esther served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War where she met her future husband, Bill. After her honorable discharge, she worked in New York City before she and Bill moved to Kingston to raise their family. Esther became a Unit Clerk for the Benedictine Hospital in Kingston where she worked for many years until her retirement in 1995.
Esther is survived by her daughters Lisa Skilling-Belmond and her husband Ernie and Gail Holcomb and her husband Peter both of Manhattan, Samantha Skilling of Brooklyn, a granddaughter, Lindsay Holcomb as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her brother Milton.
Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY 12401, where services will be held on Monday January 24th at 2:00 pm.
Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery, Hurley, NY
Friends may call on Monday from 11am-2pm at the funeral home.
