Ernest Michitsch

Ernest ''Ernie'' Michitsch, 82, of the Town of Ulster and Boca Raton, Fl., passed away peacefully Sunday, September 21, 2014 in Kingston with his wife Julianne by his side. Ernie was the son of the late Rudolf and Josephine (Tomitz) Michitsch of Toronto, Ontario.

Ernie and his wife Julianne (Tschernkowitsch) Michitsch were married for 57 years; they wed May 4, 1957 in Queens NY.

Ernie owned and operated Continental Auto Body in Lake Katrine for thirty years until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid pool player, outdoorsman and hunter, a member of the Ruby Rod and Gun Club and a parishioner of St Joseph's Church in Kingston. More than anything, he loved being with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Loretta D. Ede of New York, Heidimarie Michitsch of Naples, FL, Karen-Christa Roets and her husband Nicolaas, of Lake Worth, FL, and Eric Michitsch of Boca Raton, FL, as well as his grandchildren Miranda Escobar and her husband Elkin; Ryan, Julia, Olivia and Ethan Hofacker; Alexis and Angelica Roets; Eric Michitsch; Aidan Brooks and great-granddaughter Sophia Escobar. Ernie is also survived by a sister, Suzanne Kallman, Toronto, Ontario and family in Canada and Austria.  He was predeceased by his daughter Marian J.  Brooks in March, 2014.

Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Friday September 26th from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 242 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401 at 10am.  Entombment will take place at a later date in Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, FL.
