Ermelinda Giannuzzi

Ermelinda ''Linda'' Giannuzzi, 97, of Golden Hill died Sunday October 23, 2011 at the Golden Hill Health Care Center. Mrs. Giannuzzi was born in Grimaldi, Province of Calabria, Italy on November 11, 1913, the daughter of the late Santo and Assunta Torchio Benincasa. She was the loving wife of the late Mario V. Giannuzzi; he died on May 2, 1988, they had celebrated 54 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her loving son Lorenzo S. Giannuzzi, who died on February 11th, 1966.

She is survived by her loving chidren, Paul P. Giannuzzi and his wife Gloria of Hurley, Anita B. Schoonmaker of Lomontville, her beloved grandchildren Debra Teed and her husband Don of Cape Cod, MA, Joseph Giannuzzi of Austin, TX, Christine Gilliland and her husband Robert of Accord, 9 great grandchildren. Her brothers Peter Benincasa and Salvatore Benincasa, a sister Yolanda Walden, many nieces and nephews, she was predeceased by her brothers Armand Benincasa, Albert Benincasa, Michael Benincasa, and sisters Pauline Castrone and Mary Erena

She immigrated with her family to this country in the early 1920's and initially moved to Colorado, they moved back east following the stone cutting and masonry trades. An accomplished seamstress, she had worked for many of the local knitting mills, she was an excellent cook, loved to cook for her family, enjoyed sewing, and especially spending time with family and grandchildren

Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, Friends may call on Wednesday from 2- 4 & 7 - 9. The procession will form on Thursday at 9:15 am and proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church where at 10:00 am A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.


In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Golden Hill Health Care Center Activity Fund, 99 Golden Hill Drive, Kingston, NY 12401.
