Enis DeGasperis Secreto Melnik of Kingston, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Kingston Hospital. She was 92.
She was born in Pittsburg, PA, daughter of the late John A. and Lorraine Organtini DeGasperis.
From 1936 until 1986 Enis co-owned the Govenor Clinton Market, founded by her father, with her brothers and late husband, James Secreto.
A parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Kingston, Enis was a member of the St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Santa Maria; and an active member of AARP #2039. Enis belonged to the Catholic Widows & Widowers, and volunteered at the Golden Hill Health Care Facility.
Her first husband, James Secreto, died November 28, 1963. Her second husband, Joseph Melnik, died October 7, 1994.
Beloved mother of Jeanne Marie Stoico and her husband, Michael of Hurley, Carol Ann Ingarra and her husband, Joseph of Kingston, John Secreto and his wife, Patricia of Rifton, stepmother of Kathleen Beickert and her husband Gerard of Town of Ulster; grandmother of Alyssa, James, John Jr., and Marianne Secreto, Amanda Ingarra, Jenny Ingarra, Ivana and Anthony Stoico, Joseph and Paul Beickert; great grandmother of Joseph and Nicolas Ciardi, baby Lucy, Thomas, Katherine, Emily, Jobe and Ryan Beickert; sister of Rose Contreras, Rochester and the late John A. DeGasperis, Jr., Edmund DeGasperis, and Norma Provenzano. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 3:00 7:00 PM. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will conduct a ritual on Sunday at 3:15 PM. The funeral procession will form on Monday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
