Emma Shelton

Emma L. Shelton, 98, of Stone Ridge, NY passed peacefully on November 17, 2023, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.      

Emma was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Blaise and Emma Zehnder Benziger. Emma lived in Woodhaven, Queens and was a housewife and mother after working at Allied Stores. She was a baseball fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and later New York Mets. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and refinishing furniture. She was an avid history buff and enjoyed old movies and music.

She was predeceased by her husband, John C. Shelton and two sons, John J. Shelton and Lawrence R Shelton.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law. Leona Shelton, her son, Joseph Shelton (Carey), her daughters Maryann Brown and Susan Istad (John); her grandchildren: Brent Shelton, Kiersten Clay, Garreth Shelton, Braedon Shelton, Ceanan Tillinger, Andrew Shelton, Matthew Shelton, and their families; her great grandchildren: Emma Clay, Elijah Clay, and Declan Tillinger; her nieces and nephews: Paul Benziger, Laurel Kawash, Joseph Benziger, James Benziger, Edward Benziger, and families.
