Emma J. Hill

June 14, 1920 — October 23, 2009

Emma "Jaynie" Hill, formerly of Southfield St., Kingston, died Friday, October 23, 2009 at Ten Broeck Commons, Lake Katrine, NY, after a short illness. She was 89.




Mrs. Hill served with the Navy during WWII and was stationed in San Francisco, where she met her husband, John W. Hill, Sr., who was in the Army. They were married June 18, 1946 in Medford, Oregon. Mr. Hill died August 30, 1976.




Mrs. Hill was a secretary at the Mutual Insurance Agency on Maiden Lane, Kingston. She retired in 1976, and had her own business, "Jane's Typing Service" for many years to follow. Mrs. Hill loved music and was a charter member of the Mid-Hudson Women's Chorus. She was a member of the Hurley Reformed Church and a former member of the Prayer Chain and the Social Solo's.




She was born in Mission, Texas on June 14, 1920 the daughter of Robert A. and Callie Reed Brewer.




Survivors include two sons John W. Hill, Jr. of Rockford, IL. and Bryan R. Hill, Lake Katrine, NY., and nine grandchildren.




Mrs. Hill was predeceased by her son, Robert F. Hill, and a daughter, Janet Hill.




Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, where services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM, Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating.




Burial in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.




Friends may call on Thursday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
