Elizabeth I. Constant

Elizabeth I. Constant of the Boulevard, Kingston, NY died Thursday, January 25, 2007. She was 56. She was born in Lauterecken, Germany on June 11, 1950, a daughter of Hedwig Langohr Menges and the late Robert Menges who died in 1981. Mrs. Constant immigrated to this country in 1960 and settled in Jamaica, Queens. She then moved to Ellenville and graduated Ellenville High School, Class of '69. On June 28, 1969 she married William B. Constant and moved to Kingston. Liz received an Associates degree from SUNY Ulster and Bachelors and Masters degrees from SUNY New Paltz in education. She began her teaching career 28 years ago as a German instructor at Kingston High School before moving to Crosby Elementary School about 24 years ago. THE 'HEAD teacher' at Crosby, Constant assumed responsibility for the elementary school building in the absence of Principal John Voerg, and she also was a member of the school's Building Leadership Team and Safety Team. She belonged to the Kingston Teachers Federation. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. Surviving in addition to her mother and husband of Kingston, are two sons Jason and Andrew Constant, both at home; one sister Heidi Ackermann and her husband Walter of Kingston; one brother Heimo Menges and his wife Eleanor of Kingston; two nieces and two nephews. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 - 10:30 AM and then process to St. Mary's Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Frank Damis at St. Mary's Church at 11:30 AM. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a memorial fund at the Crosby Elementary School established in Liz Constant’s name to the “Crosby PTO”, 767 Neighborhood Rd., Lake Katrine, NY 12449.
