Elizabeth Betty Winnie

Elizabeth "Betty" Winnie of Lapla Road, Lomontville died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 80. She was born in Maybrook on April 13, 1928, a daughter of the late Frank DeRosa and Nellie Reed DeRosa Jarvis. Betty moved to this area in 1964. An avid gardener, she enjoyed cooking and sewing. Her husband, Malvin Elmer Winnie died January 31, 1991; one daughter Betty Ehlers and one grandson Ernest Winnie Stalhut both died previously. Surviving are four sons Malvin F. Winnie of Newburgh, Thomas J. Winnie of Kingston, LeRoy E. Winnie of Kingston, John M. Winnie of Lomontville; one daughter Patricia A. Sparling of Hurley; one sister Beverly Constant of Middletown, two brothers Larry DeRosa of Montgomery and Donald DeRosa of Warwick; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
