Elinor (Sorensen) Sweet, 97, of Hurley Ave., Kingston, NY died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. She was born November 2, 1915 in Troy, NY to the late Hans and Cecelia (Williamsen) Sorensen. She was married to the late Kenneth J. Sweet. Elinor graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, CT and went to work for Thomaston Savings Bank in 1957, starting as a Teller and retiring in 1983 as an Assistant Vice-President. She moved to Kingston, NY to be closer to her daughter in 2006. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church on Albany Avenue in Kingston where she enjoyed participating in many of the church's activities. She was an avid reader and loved gardening. She was a loving caregiver throughout her life for many relatives and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Elinor is survived by her daughter, Elaine S. Lawrence of Kingston, NY, her grandson Joshua K. Lawrence, Esq. of Buffalo, NY as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her daughter, Lucinda Sweet, her brother Carl Sorensen and her sisters, Edith Curtis and Kathryn Corcoran. Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, Kingston, NY. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at St. John's Episcopal Church will calling hours from 10 - 11 AM and service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Tyringham Village Cemetery, Tyringham, MA.
