Eleanor Yonta, 87 of Kingston, died peacefully Sunday July 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Rock Hill, NY, she was the daughter of the late Monroe & Rosella Stevens Kimble.
Eleanor is remembered by family & friends as a very positive, fun loving women that enjoyed cooking, baking, gambling with slot machines, scratch offs and one cocktail every day. Her Friday night outing with her friends was something that she looked forward to. She loved most of all being with her family and her cat Buttons.
Eleanor is survived by her five children, Thomas Yonta and his partner Jodi, of Saugerties, Linda Sasso and her husband David, of Saugerties, Vincent Yonta and his wife Patricia, of Kerhonkson, Kelly Yonta, of Morgantown, WV, Jodi Cooper and her husband Blaine, of Hurley, nine grandchildren, Jessica, Vincent Jr., Samantha, Blaine Jr., Tessa, Gerard, Priscilla, Coty, Blake and Matthew, seven great grandchildren, Mikayla, Jordan, Anthony, Cameron, Vincent III, Gerard Jr., and Nolan, many nieces and nephews. Eleanor is also survived by her beloved sister Alice Hart, of Lake Katrine.
In addition to Eleanor’s parents, she is predeceased by her husband Thomas of 54 years who passed away in 2007.
Eleanor will be reposing at Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home 411 Albany Ave Kingston, NY on Tuesday July 20, 2021 from 4-8 PM.
A funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church.
Entombment will follow at The Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
