Eleanor C. Sears

Eleanor C. Sears, 86, of Kingston, passed away Dec. 17, 2013 at the age of 86. She was born August 24, 1927 in Ellenville to the late Harry and Agnes (Wilklow) Clancy.

She was married to the late Nelson L. Sears. They wed on Feb. 26, 1949.

Eleanor graduated from Ellenville High School in 1945. For many years, she worked as a supervisor of operations for New York Telephone Company. She was employed by the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain, worked as a legal secretary for Stewart Glass, Esq. in Margaretville, N.Y., and later as an Ulster County court clerk.

Eleanor enjoyed her five year residence with her family in Spain. She was an avid skier, golfer, bowler, and was a consummate bridge player. A lover of horses, Eleanor also had a talent for needle point and quilting. She was a past secretary of the Hasbrouck Family Association Inc.

Eleanor is survived by her loving family, her three sons; Peter M. Sears and his wife, Robin, Woodstock, N.Y., Anthony C. Sears, Aspen, Colo., Kristopher L. Sears and his wife Frances, Champaign, Ill., grandchildren; Christina Sears, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., J.T. Sears, Champaign, Ill. and Taylor Sears, Alexandria, Va. She is also survived by her sister Mary Patterson and her husband Bruce, Dunkirk, N.Y. Eleanor is predeceased by her sister, Jean Clancy, and infant sister, Eileen Angela Clancy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY, where friends may call on Friday Dec. 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's RC Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, NY 12401. A spring internment will take place at Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
