Elaine Scutaro

Elaine B. (Mehl) (Trott) Scutaro, 59, of Milan, NY, died on September 17, 2022, after a long battle with multiple health problems, at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home.

Born in Kingston, NY, she was the daughter of Sandra (Pigula) Mehl & the late Massie Mehl.

Elaine grew up in Kingston, NY and later in Vestal, NY, graduating from Vestal High School in 1981. Elaine attended SUNY Oswego where she graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1985. Relying on her compassion, kindness, and genuine care for her fellow human, her career path found its way to Human Resources. For 21 years, she worked at her second home, Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home, where she was Director of Human Resources and later became Assistant Administrator. At the end of her career, Elaine became the Administrator at Thompson House until her retirement in 2017. Elaine cared for every single coworker, employee, and resident in her facility, bringing love and kindness to everyone on her path.

Elaine was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She was full of life, silly and unabashed. She always stood up for what she believed in and the people she loved. Elaine enjoyed writing and telling stories, she loved spending time with her family, and she loved the sun and being outdoors, especially near the water. She created her dream backyard with a hot tub and firepit, her favorite place to relax, sing to the birds, and enjoy life with her wife and anyone who came to visit. Elaine had a wanderlust, she enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, experiencing different cultures, and trying new foods. Elaine’s exuberance for life was apparent to everyone around her, she was passionate about planning trips and researching new adventures, especially for her loved ones.

Elaine is survived by her wife Bernadette Scutaro of Milan, NY. Elaine is also survived by her two sons, Joshua Trott (Shayna) of Niskayuna, NY and David Trott of Milan, NY, her mother Sandra Mehl of Port Ewen, NY, her brother Bradley Mehl (Yifat) of Livingston, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Elaine is predeceased by her former husband and the father of her children, Mark Trott.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley, officiated by Rabbi Yael Romer, and is open to all that knew and loved Elaine. The funeral service will be livestreamed for all wishing to pay their respects at: cehv.org/livestream.
