Eileen Pecora

Eileen Elsworth Pecora, 80, a lifelong resident of Port Ewen, passed unexpectedly Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Eileen was a very dedicated person and proud of her service to those with special needs. For over 37 years she was a member of the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, Taconic Developmental Disabilities Services Office Board of Visitors, having been appointed by Governor Hugh L. Carey and reappointed by Governor Mario Cuomo. She was a member of the Association of Board of Visitors NYS Facilities for the Mentally Disabled, Inc.,

She was life member of the Klyne Esopus Historical Society, member and volunteer at Ulster - Greene ARC. She had been appointed by the Ulster County legislature to serve on the Ulster County Community Services Board of Mental Health. She had a lifelong love of music and had sung in the Presentation RC Church Choir.

Eileen was born August 10, 1933 in Kingston, the daughter of the late Hon. Roscoe V. Elsworth, NYS Supreme Court Justice and late Jennie Gessex Elsworth. She was a graduate of The Academy of St. Ursula, Class of 1951 and had attended Ithaca College where she studied music and voice. In her early years she had worked for NY Telephone.

She was the widow of the late Joseph T. Pecora, he died September 4, 1998. Eileen is survived by her children Roscoe T. Pecora of Port Ewen, Roxanne E. Pecora of Port Ewen and Joseph J. Pecora of Woodstock, her sister Elizabeth Shelightner and her husband Robert of Port Ewen and a niece Lori Jean McGowan and her husband Brian and a grand niece Chelsea McGowan.

Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. Friends may call on Friday from 1 - 4 & 6 - 9 pm. The procession will form on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and proceed to Immaculate Conception R.C. Church where at 10:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
