Edwin J. Hoyt

Edwin J. Hoyt, 82, of Kingston, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.

Born in Rensselaer, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin & Frances Matthews Hoyt.

Ed was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He spent his free time with family and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, cycling, camping, and photography. He also enjoyed spending time landscaping and gardening and spending time with his dog, Rocky. He took pride in his family and home. Ed had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on those around him which he continued to do into his final days.

Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane Heiser Hoyt of Kingston, three children, James M. Hoyt of Gardiner, Tracy Ashdown and her husband, Troy of Town of Ulster, Keith Hoyt and his wife Jin Young of Saugerties, a sister, Muriel McCardle of North Carolina, five grandchildren, Amy & Hannah Hoyt, Jared, Gabrielle, and Gianna Ashdown.

The family will receive friends at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home, Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be held privately.
