Edwin J. Adams

Edwin J. Adams, of Saugerties, NY and formerly of Lewiston, ID, and of Piermont, NY, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 96. He was born in Uniontown, WA, son of Lloyd and Celesta Adams. Mr. Adams served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. A carpenter by trade, he was a member of the New York City Carpenter's Union. Surviving is his daughter, Julie Sitney and her husband, Jonathan Delson, with whom he resided; as well as four sisters, Dorothy Adams, Elsie Williams, Shirley Jean Engen, and Roxina Johnson. Two grandchildren, Blake and Sky Sitney and many nieces and nephews also survive. A daughter, Celeste Adams, and a sister, Marguerite Hartley, died previously. Cremation was private and inurnment will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockland County at a later date. Arrangements are by Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY.
