Edward J. Gratis, Sr., 66, of High Falls, died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Kingston Hospital after a short illness. He was born April 6, 1945 in Windber, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Michael and Mildred Ohler Gratis.
He was a Senior Administrative Analyst for IBM Kingston and Poughkeepsie prior to his retirement. He had been a Little League coach, enjoyed ceramics, gardening and loved to take care of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Meehan Gratis, they wed on January 10th, 1972, they would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2012. Additionally, his beloved children, Edward J. Gratis, Jr. and his wife Tina and Megan Gratis - Orellana and her fianc Juan "Manny" Sanabria, grandchildren, Brianna, Jason, Jordan Gaudinier, Kaitlynn and Jamie Gratis, a sister Charlotte L. Little, two sister in laws, Teresa Gratis and Jane Williams, a brother in law Monte Little, several nieces and nephews and his loving pets, Blue and Diablo. He was predeceased by a sister Mary Dorothy Fetzko and a brother Michael G. Gratis, brother in laws Paul Fetzko and Big Frank Williams,Sr.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Friends may call on Saturday from 2 - 4. The service will be held at 4:00 pm, Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating.
