Edward G. Barley, Jr, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Kingston, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
Born in Olivebridge, he was a son of the late Edward G. & Amelia Franz Barley, Sr. Ed worked for the Elliot & Son Sanitation for 19 years, then Walter Beezmer & Son Sanitation for 12 years. He also farmed for Paul Maggiori's Farm for over 30 years. Ed enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, gardening and raising animals.
Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Wheeler Barley of Jacksonville, eight children, Edna Flores and her husband Carlos of Marbletown, Suzette Teto of Woodstock, Tammy Durham of Jacksonville, FL, Christine Alterman and her partner, Arnold Alexander of Jacksonville, FL, Rosemary Yacknowitz and her partner, Jay Johnson of Pine Grove, CO, Jacqueline Potter and her husband Neil of Lake Katrine, two stepsons, James Wager of West Hurley and Keith Lent of Rosendale, a brother, Robert Barley of Saugerties. 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by one brother, Henry Barley, three sisters, Hattie Quick, Estella Hamilton and Rose Quick, a son in law, John Yacknowitz and a granddaughter, Olivia Rose Fischer.
Ed will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
