Earl Leonard Edmond, 71, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Health Alliance Hospital - Mary's Ave Campus in Kingston, NY. He was born on August 25, 1952, in Ridgeway, SC, and was the beloved son of the late Coleman Brown and Mary Jane Edmond.
Earl was united in marriage with Sylvia J. Armstrong on June 13, 1998. Their love and partnership spanned over two decades, marked by their love of their blended family and mutual support. A dedicated worker, Earl was a foreman for the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 17 for 35 years. His commitment and leadership earned him a place on the Local 17 Board. Earl took immense pride in his work in construction, contributing to the development of many major roadways throughout New York State.
Earl's passion for softball was evident to all who knew him. He was an avid player known for his skill and sportsmanship. He played on numerous local and tri-state teams, including the World of Video travel softball team, the Hoyt Reality travel softball team, and the Perfect Score softball team. His dedication to the sport was recognized when he was inducted into the Kingston, NY, Softball Hall of Fame in 2022.
Earl cherished spending time with his family. He enjoyed yard work with his children and their family dog, Bear, and loved gathering with his loved ones for barbecues.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia J. Armstrong-Edmond; his children, Earl Edmond Junior, Lynnece Edmond, Adrienne Burris, Coleman Edmond, Jordan Edmond, and Deon Edmond; his siblings, Carolyn Edmond, Patricia Harrison-Brown, Marjie Brown Thomas, Raymond Brown, and Vanessa Lawhorn-Edmond; and his grandchildren, Zai're People, James Jones, and Shyquan Royal. He is also survived by his godchildren, Arisha Adams and Cedric Harrison, and a host of nieces and nephews. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman Brown and Mary Jane Edmond.
Arrangements are entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm. The funeral service will follow at 12 pm.
