Earl A. Newell passed away on October 18, 2005 in Columbus, Ohio where he had moved to be near his only child, Carol Newell Kipfer.
Earl had been a life long resident of Kingston, NY where he was born on March 4, 1917. He was the child of Avery Newell and Edna Weed Newell.
He was the husband of Rose Marie Turck Newell who preceded him in death on April 6, 1992. He was the father of Carol Newell Kipfer, the grandfather of Carolee Reynolds Straub, Stephanie Kipfer and David Kipfer, and the great grandfather of Matthew Straub and Kendell Straub. His brothers, Ken Newell and Howard Newell, preceded him in death.
Earl attended Kingston High School and served in the 652nd Infantry Battalion during the Second World War. Prior to the war he was employed by Hiltebsont Ship Yard, South Rondout, NY.
He was an IBM Quarter Century Member, having worked in Poughkeepsie and Kingston plants. He was a member of the Old Dutch Church, where he served on Consistory.
Earl enjoyed baseball, having played in Kingston during his teen years, and he remained an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed mornings out, visiting with friends over coffee. He will be remembered as a generous, loving father and grandfather.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
