Duane D. Winnie, formerly of Mountain Rd. Shokan died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He was 81.
He was born in Kingston, a son of the late Seymour and Vivian Townsend Winnie.
He was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1947 and an army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
An iron worker, Mr. Winnie was employed by Iron Workers Union, #417 in Newburgh. He retired in 1977.
His wife, Philomina Ruocco Winnie died previously.
Surviving is his daughter, Donna Winnie of Shokan; three nieces, Marie Kraft, Joycelyn Hellenschmidt and Kimberly Reiser; two nephews, Thomas Ogden and John Steven Thayer. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
A son, Duane Winnie; two brothers, Robert and Seymour Winnie and two sisters, Joyce Thayer and Vivian Ogden all died previously.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday from 2 - 4 PM at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. Cremation was private.
