Douglas S. Fraser passed away peacefully with his wife, Elisabeth by his side on June 4, 2013. He was born November 24, 1928 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to Ernest and Caroline Smith Fraser. He became a naturalized citizen on December 1, 1961. Doug was a self educated student. His education consisted of some high school and a number of courses at Nova Scotia Technical College in welding and machine design. He has several patents of his designs. In 1973, Douglas and his partner, Taylor Thompson founded FTS Systems in Stone Ridge. Douglas is survived by his wife Elisabeth of Kingston, his son, John of Irvine, CA. Also surviving are his daughters, Catherine (Robert Repke) of Stone Ridge, Diane Lengyel of Jacksonville, FL; his son Ernest and his girlfriend, Mary of Kerhonkson and his son Fred of Modena. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Wayne and grandsons Alex Lengyel, Adam Fraser and granddaughter Melissa Fraser. Also surviving are his four-legged companions, Scooter, Brando, Sammy and Toto. They were great bed buddies for him and always made him smile. Doug's favorite color was purple. Friends will be received at the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston on Friday from 4 - 7 PM. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to Bloomington Fire Company or Town of Ulster Fire Company or a donation to a charity of one's own choice.
