Dorothy Theresa Denzler, 92, of Kingston, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born June 30, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Harry Denzler and Anne (Moore) Denzler. She attended Girl's Commercial High School but left school in order to help support the family upon the death of her father.
Dorothy worked as Secretary to the Division Engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation in Manhattan, NY, where she was featured on the cover of their corporate safety magazine. She relocated to Ulster County where she obtained her Associates Degree in Accounting from Ulster County Community College (UCCC) in 1974. Dorothy became a certified ceramics instructor for Duncan ceramic products in March of 1976, owning and operating Robin Hood Ceramics in Kingston, N.Y. She worked in Kingston City Court as well as Ulster County Surrogates Court until her retirement in October of 1991. Dorothy was a member of the Joyce Schirick Post #1386 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ladies Auxiliary and the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA).
She is survived by her brother, Richard Curtis, his wife Karen and their son, her nephew, John F. Curtis, of Severna Park, MD, as well as several other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, George Denzler and Eileen Boyle.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Wednesday May 31 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home with burial following in Montrepose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
