Dorothy Marie "Dottie" Lindner, 94, died on May 31st, 2018 in Connecticut surrounded by her loving family, including her son, Thomas Lindner of Palm Springs, CA, and her daughter, Barbara Zullo of Hurley, NY. Dottie and her late husband of 65 years formerly lived in Patterson, NJ, North Babylon, Long Island, Saugerties, NY, Cary, NC, and most recently for 22 years in Ocala, Fl.
At every stop along the way Dottie filled up the room with sunshine and song. Filled to the top with energy, she wore many hats during her lifetime, including, telephone operator, bookkeeper, movie theatre manager, proprietor of a twenty-seven room guest house called, Lindy's Pine Garden in Saugerties, NY, nurses aide, massage therapist, and retired from IBM in their Human Resource Department.
However, with a microphone in hand, Dottie will best be remembered for her passion for song and dance. A talented and sought-after entertainer her whole life, Dottie sang in clubs on Long Island and Upstate New York. She was also an active member of every theatre group where she lived. She starred in many roles, such as Miss Hannigan in Annie at the Raleigh Little Theatre for 26 performances, along with leading roles in Coach House Players and Ocala Theatre Groups.
Dottie was able to pick up a top hat and move to the music of life for almost every moment of her 94 years. She loved people, children, and dogs. Upon parting new friends and old she would announce "Stay Young" ... and that she did.
In addition to her children, Tom and Barbara, Dottie is survived by her three grandchildren, Lara Hoey, Amanda Gaffney and her husband Tim, and Todd Zullo and his wife Shanna, eight great grandchildren, Georgia, Murphy, and Finnegan Hoey, Benjamin and Brooke Gaffney, and Brooklyn, Hudson, and Fallon Zullo, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
