Dorothy Louise DuMond of Bowne St. Port Ewen died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in New Paltz. She was 95. She was born in Hoosick Falls, the daughter of the late Sanford and Mary Peters Rudd. For 20 years, Mrs. DuMond had been a secretary for Prudential Insurance in both Kingston and Poughkeepsie. She retired in 1979. She had been acting Post Master for the Ulster Park Post Office and had been the Town of Esopus Historian for 14 years and was the organizer and former librarian for the Klyne Esopus Historical Society Library, located at the museum. She was a member of the Save the Esopus Lighthouse Committee and the Wiltwyck Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a life member of the Ulster County Genealogical Society. On Feb. 3, 1940, she married C. Chester DuMond Jr. in Hoosick Falls. Mr. DuMond died August 2, 1995. Surviving is her son, Robert DuMond and his wife Diane of Liverpool; two daughters, Barbara Anson and her husband Darryl of New Paltz and Judith Gehrer and her husband Ernest of Gardiner. Five grandchildren, Brian and Scott DuMond, Sherry Purcell, Timothy Melchior and Debra Kosinski and six great-grandchildren, Nicole, Patrick, Dana and Ryan Purcell and David and Daniel DuMond also survive. A brother, Douglas Rudd died previously. Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen where friends will be received on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
