Dorothy Jacks, 88, of Kingston, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston. Born on October 5, 1933 in Brownsville, TX, she was the daughter of the late Durston Richardson and Dorothy Browning.
Caring and tending to others was her calling. She earned her Registered Nursing degree from St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida. After graduating, she moved to New York state, working in various health care settings, including Kingston Hospital and the Golden Hill Health Care Center, where she was the night supervisor for many years. She retired in 1998.
Nicknamed "Dottie," "Dot" and eventually "Grandot," she was an active member of Kings Fire Church in Lake Katrine, NY. She loved playing bridge and had been in several bridge clubs. Solving crossword puzzles was a hobby, but most importantly she loved time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Terry Lynn (Tony) Cuomo; son Robert (Judy) Nissen; grandson Kyle Nissen, granddaughters Natalie Cuomo and Amy (Brendan) Doyle, a nephew, Stephen Richardson; a great-grandson, Nolan Doyle; and nephews Richard (Mary Ann) Nissen and Steve (Betsy) Nissen. Memories of many good times with Dot are a blessing for all.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son David Nissen, grandson Travis Nissen; a brother Durtson Richardson; a niece, Carol Nissen Lomonaco; and dear friend & companion William Sinsabaugh.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. Services will be private on Thursday December 2nd Entombment will be at Wiltwyck Cemetery
