Dorothy Estelle Grant, a beacon of love and loyalty, graced this world with her presence for 97 remarkable years. On January 19, 2025, she passed away peacefully at the Health Alliance Hospital under Hospice Care the last day, leaving behind a loving legacy that will continue to inspire her family and friends always. Born on July 4, 1927, in the small town of Walden, New York, Dorothy's life journey was a testament to her devotion to God, love of her family and friends.
Throughout her life, Dorothy (Dot) was a devout Christian. Her affiliation with the Wesleyan Church was lifelong. She attended her church until last year. She prayed multiple times a day and was always a model to her son and family.
Dot lived a peaceful and blessed life with her family for the last 44 years, having one son, Stewart, who tragically passed away December 30, 2023. Dorothy was beloved by her family for her bright attitude, endless fascination with puzzles, and her constant willingness to generously grant both cookies and AA batteries to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dot's love for the St. Louis Cardinals was unwavering, and she followed her team with enthusiasm, cheering them on through every victory and defeat. She thoroughly enjoyed watching Tony Stewart race in NASCAR! She was very tech savvy for a 97-year-old; she loved checking her email and enjoyed Facebook posts.
Dot worked for several years in the Wesleyan Methodist Church Publishing Company, both in Syracuse N.Y. and in Marion, Indiana. Dot's career was in manufacturing for the most part, which surpassed 60 years in length. She was loyal to each company she was employed with and her fellow workers loved her.
Dorothy leaves a legacy of treasured memories to her sisters, Jane Dempster of Frankfort, NY and Norma Curtis of Greenwood, SC, her sisters-in-law, Evangeline (wife of her brother Harold, deceased) of Houghton, NY and Sharon (wife of her brother Loren, deceased), daughter-in-law, Helene (widow of her son, Stewart), her grandchildren, Christopher and Steven, Christopher's wife Amy and her four great-grandchildren, Jenson, Meredith, Cameron and Zoe, all of Shokan, NY and all of her siblings' families.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Estella Smith Grant, her siblings, Ralph, Jr., Gerald (wife, Nellie), Raymond (nickname; Bob) (wife, Kay), Edward (nickname, Bunk) (wife, Shirley), Harold, Willard (nickname, Bill) (wife, Janet), Loren, Loretta (husband, Wolfgang Adels), Jane (husband, John) (nickname, Jack) Dempster, Alfred and Nancy (twins) and Norma (husband, Jessie) (nickname, Jess) Curtis and her beloved son, Stewart.
