Doris Sapofsky Goldfarb

Doris Goldfarb of 'The Gables' on Devonwood Drive, Farmington, CT died Sunday, January 30, 2005 at Hartford Hospital. She was 82. Doris was born in New York City on July 13, 1922, a daughter of the late Harry and Adela D'Lugach Sapofsky. She was raised in the Bronx and for several years worked as a secretary on Wall Street, NYC for an engineering firm. Doris volunteered as an interpreter at Bronx State Hospital. She married Louis Goldfarb on November 16, 1941. Formerly of Wappingers Falls, NY, Doris was a 28-year resident of Hurley and Kingston, NY. While living in Ulster County, Doris was a member of Temple Emanuel and operated the Judaica Shop at Temple Emanuel for many years. Former president for 17 years of Young at Heart at Temple Emanuel, Kingston. In 2000 Doris was honored by the Jewish Federation of Ulster County. A former treasurer of B’Nai Brith, Ulster County; Doris served on the board of directors for Hadassah, Ulster County. An active member of the Lions Club, Doris was a former member and officer of both the Kingston and Hurley Lions Clubs. After the death of her beloved husband Lou in 2001, Doris moved to Farmington, CT. She became a member of Temple Sinai in Newington, CT. Her husband Louis Goldfard died October 27, 2001; one sister Jean Sapofsky and one son in law, Conrad Ekert both died previously. Doris is survived by her children Kenneth S. Goldfarb and his wife Michele of Manassas, VA; Maris Ekert of Media, PA, and Laurie Endres and her husband, Dr. Kenneth of Avon, CT; her grandchildren Kurt and Samantha Ekert, Dr. Jennifer and her husband Peter Bittinger; Kristin Ekert; Greg Goldfarb; Lisa & Dean Reid; Michael, Ryan and Kyle Endres; her great grandchildren Julia Hope Ekert, Cole Conrad Ekert and Claire Ekert Bittinger. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Road, Newington, CT 06111. Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett will officiate. Interment will be in Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ around 2:00 PM. In her memory, contributions may be made to Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Road, Newington, CT 06111 or Temple Emanuel, 243 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401.
