Doris A. West

Doris A. West, 81, formerly of Connelly, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Kingston Hospital, Kingston; she was born April 26, 1929 in Kingston, to the late Paul E. and Kathryn Cole Barnum.




She was the wife of the late Robert A. West; he died on October 15, 2009.




Mrs. West was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1946. She had been District Manager for Stanley Home Products for 50 years.




Mrs. West was a very active member of the Reformed Church of the Comforter, she had for many years been a Sunday School teacher, member of the Consistory, active in Wiltwyck Guild and Reformed Church Women's ministries. She also participated in the church functions and dinners. She was a volunteer with the Retired Senior Volunteer program, the Ulster County Tourism Center at the caboose, Hasbrouck Engine Company Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered at the Golden Hill Health Care Center and with St. Simon's Soup Kitchen at Holy Cross.








Doris is survived by her children Kathryn H. Kirby, Kingston, NY, Elizabeth A. Cashara and her husband Alex, Lomontville, NY, son Paul A. West, Connelly, NY, daughter Barbara R. West - Varnum and her husband Shane, Avon, NY, grandchildren Beth Mackey and her husband John, James, Nathan and Jenna West, Christian, Cameron, Kathryn and Kyleigh Varnum, sisters Nancy Burr, High Falls, NY, and Helen Scheffel, Kingston, several nieces and nephews.






The Memorial Service will be on Monday, June 28 at 2 pm at the Reformed Church of The Comforter, Rev. Dr. David M. Brechter, officiating. The committal service will follow at the Reformed Church of The Comforter Cemetery.




The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Reformed Church of The Comforter, CPO Box 2736, 26 Wynkoop Place, Kingston, NY 12402
