Donald VanDemark, Sr.

Donald VanDemark Sr., 83 of Kingston, NY, passed away of Monday August 12, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 21, 1941, in Kingston, N.Y., and was the son of the late James VanDemark Sr. and Thelma L. Jones. Donald was a true Kingston native through and through, his life and legacy deeply interwoven with the community he loved.

Donald was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1959. He worked as a security guard for IBM, then worked for NY State Mental Health, Kingston and was a home care provider for Taconic DDSO for many years.

In 1967, Donald married the love of his life, Audrey A. Green in a small, cherished ceremony in New Jersey. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joyous hustle and bustle of raising their 6 children, Tracy E. Harvard, Roderick S. Gray, Michael T. Gray, Donald VanDemark Jr. (late), David W. VanDemark & Brenda J. Gordon.

Predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Thomas VanDemark and James VanDemark Jr., Donald's memory Is honored and kept alive by his loving wife, Audrey, his Aunt Maxine Peoples, his children and their spouses, Marta Gray (Michael), Maria Gray (Roderick), Maria VanDemark (David) and Barry Gordon (Brenda).

Donald's legacy is also carried on by his adored grandchildren, Tiffany, Chana, Donovan, Christopher, Jennifer, Maya, Marco, Maranatha, Rebeka, Matthew, Michael Jr, Brandon, Saniyah, Sierra, Thomas James (T.J.), Marcel, and Jaxson. His great grandchildren, Cassidy and Ayriana and all his nieces and nephew. Each of them will remember their grandfather, great grandfather and uncle for his boundless energy, his love for music, the road trips to Taconic Park and Jiminy Peak, his humor and his precious voice mails expressing his love for them.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. A visitation for Donald will take place on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 1 pm to 2pm at Pointe of Praise Church, 243 Hurley Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401. Services will be held from 2 PM to 3 PM and Repast immediately following. At the request of the family, the burial at Montrepose Cemetery will be held privately on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM.
