Donald L. Hart of Agnes Street, Port Ewen died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Kingston Hospital. He was 84.
He was born in Prattsburgh, NY on October 1, 1922, a son of the late Harold and Anna Kleckler Hart. Formerly of Accord, Mr. Hart has lived in this area most of his life.
A US Army veteran of WW II, he served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He married Ruth M. Purcell on June 2, 1946.
In 1955 Mr. Hart began a career with I.B.M. in Kingston and Poughkeepsie as a lab tech. He retired in 1983 and belonged to the Quarter Century Club.
Three sisters Ruth Bollin, Carolyn Hogan and Doris Blume and one brother Francis 'Butch' Hart all died previously.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years, are two daughters Carol VanVoorhis of Port Ewen and Donna L. Rice of Town of Ulster; two son in laws John E. Rice and Byron VanVoorhis; three sisters Marion Bunt of Kingston, Patricia Godwin of Walkill and Rose Roe of Saratoga and Indiatlantic, Florida; two brothers William 'Stubby' Hart of Kingston and Carl Hart of Queensbury; two grandsons Jason Rice and Todd VanVoorhis; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 at the funeral home, Rev. Richard Mueller will officiate. Interment, with military honors by Joyce - Schirick Post 1386, will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
