Donald J. DuBois, Sr. 87, of Lake Katrine, passed peacefully Wednesday morning, September 11, 2013 at Thompson House, Rhinebeck. He was born July 2, 1926 in Woodstock, the son of the late William and Cora France DuBois.
He served in the US Navy, WWII, in the Atlantic, European, and African Theater of Operations from 1943 to 1946. Don was a machinist, having worked for the NYC Board of Water Supply at the Ashokan Reservoir.
He was an avid Met fan, enjoyed taking care of and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church and a member of the American Legion, Douglas L. Cordo Post #1748, Lake Katrine
Don is survived by his wife, MaryEllen VanNess DuBois, they wed on February 21, 1966, his son Donald J. DuBois, Jr. and his wife Virginia, step children Floyd Halwick and his fiancé Barbara Cook, Joel Halwick and his wife Karen, Harold Halwick and his wife Jill, Linda Boice, Corey Halwick and his wife Kathy, Wendy Boice and her husband James and Penny Augustine and her husband Michael a sister Carol King and a brother William DuBois and his wife Cathy, 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Neil DuBois.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Friends may call on Friday from 5 - 8 pm. Graveside service will be at Mt. Marion Cemetery on Saturday at 1:00 pm with military honors.
