Dolores L. Carlzon

June 9, 1928 — August 16, 2014

Dolores Legg Carlzon, of Woodland Ponds, New Paltz, formerly of Kingston, passed peacefully Saturday evening at the Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. She was born June 9, 1928 in Kingston, the daughter of the late Dorothy Beck Legg and C. Lester Legg, Sr.


She graduated from Kingston High School, class of 1945 and New York State College at New Paltz with Bachelors in Education. She was a teacher for over 22 years in Saugerties and Kingston School Districts.


Mrs. Carlzon was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, Friends of Historic Kingston, Friends of the Senate House, D & H Canal Museum, the Y.M.C.A. for 25 years and Kingston Retired teacher's Federation.


She is survived by her husband, Robert V. Carlzon, her children Susan Shumway and her husband Maynard Shumway and Richard Carlzon and his wife Amy Jean Carlzon, four grandchildren, Matthew & Morgan Ann Shumway and Emily & Jacqueline Carcaramo and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers C. Lester Legg, Jr. and Harry Legg.


The service will be at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Wurts St. Kingston on Wednesday at 12 noon. Inurnment in Montrepose Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Schwab Music Fund, 104 Wurts St., Kingston, NY 12401.
