Dennis W. Longendyke, Sr. of Hasbrouck Ave., Port Ewen died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Kingston Hospital. He was 66.
A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was born February 6, 1943, a son of the late Harold and Janet McLean Longendyke. A graduate of Kingston High School, Mr. Longendyke enlisted in the US Navy. He served on USS St. Paul at San Diego, CA during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged in 1964 and married Margaret Phillips on April 5, 1969.
Mr. Longendyke began a 45 year career at Hercules Powder Co., Port Ewen. A mechanic, he retired from Dyno Nobel in February 2009.
One brother Harold "Jack" Longendyke and one sister Janet Longendyke both died previously.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Margaret are two sons Dennis Longendyke and his wife Lisa of Norwich, CT and Kenneth Longendyke and his wife Kimberly of Port Ewen; seven grandchildren Annaliese, Austin, Zoe, Cameron, Kaitlyn, Mariah and Mason Longendyke; one sister Gwendolyn Rossi of Kingston, two brothers James Longendyke and Eugene "Joe" Longendyke, both of Kingston; many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be private.
