Dennis Helm

Dennis V. Helm, 82, of Connelly, NY, passed away on February 26, 2025 at home in the care of his son. He was born in Manhattan, NY, on June 13, 1942, the son of the late Harry and Julia (Beaver) Helm. 

After working various jobs, he was drafted by the Army and served in the Korean War. He was a former member of the Town of Esopus American Legion. Dennis was employed by NYS as food inspector for his entire career. An avid reader, Dennis was a shoe-in for any trivia competitions and was well versed on various topics. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, taking cruises, and exploring the world. 

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Eileen Helm, her children, Carol (George) Ford; George (Paul) Strasser; his fiancé, Dora Cohen; and his sister in law, Louise (Sammy) Lamonica. He is survived by his son Steven (Kristen), his stepdaughter Susan Strasser, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, his sister in law, Jean (Carmine) Proto, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Monday March 3, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday March 4, 2025 at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, NY 12401. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston, NY.
