Delbert R. "Del" Hatt, Jr. of Rhinebeck passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 5, 2008. He was 74.
He was born in Poughkeepsie on July 10, 1934, a son of the late Delbert R. and Ethel V. Totten Hatt, Sr. He later moved to Hyde Park.
Del graduated, with a full scholarship, from Arlington High School in 1952.
He began a long career with I.B.M., working both in Poughkeepsie and Kingston. A Quality Control Inspector for 39 years, he retired in 1991. He belonged to the Quarter Century Club.
A member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was a kind and loving person who especially enjoyed his family and helping others. Del was a lifelong avid fisherman and outdoorsman who loved gardening, bird-watching, wood-carving and all of nature. He belonged to the Lake Champlain Fishing Federation and the Hyde Park Trout Club.
On May 16, 1964 he married Linda Paulus. They have lived in Rhinebeck since 1967 and was a former member of St. Paul's Wurtemburg Church of Rhinebeck.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Linda Paulus Hatt, whom he married on May 16, 1964; three daughters Wendy Kordzikowski and her husband Frank of Port Ewen, Diane McGuinness and her husband James of Hurley, Brenda House and her fianc Angel Baez, Jr. of Saugerties; seven grandchildren Sara Thomas, Samantha Wright, Ryan, Brandon and Haley Willis, Alan and Joanne Kordzikowski, one great granddaughter Paige Thomas; two sisters Ethel Howard of Massachussets and Mary Bondos of North Carolina; his mother in law, Ethel Paulus, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
One granddaughter Carrie House and one sister Dorothy Post both died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Spring St. Interment in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park.
