David E. Reilly

David E. Reilly, Jr., age 64, of Esopus died Friday, April 18, 2008 at Stratton VA Hospital, Albany after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Reilly was born July 1, 1943 at Newburgh, N.Y. the son of the Ethel VanTassell Reilly Sutton of Kingston and the late David E. Reilly Sr.

He was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1962, he was captain of the wrestling team and won the silver medal at the NYSPHAA tournament. He served in the US Marine Corp from January 1963 till December of 1966, attaining the rank of sergeant, having been in active duty in Vietnam from 1965 - 1966. He was awarded several medals including the Purple Heart.
He had been employed by the US Post Office in Kingston and then went to work for IBM Kingston until his retirement. He was a member of the Town Esopus American Legion Post # 1298, was a life member of Joyce Shirick Post #1386 VFW and was a member of the Esopus Landowners Association, he loved to hunt, fish and be in the outdoors.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Christina M. Reilly of Kingston, NY, Kathleen E. Dietter of West Taghkanic, Former Wife, Jean M. Reilly of Esopus, NY; sisters Elizabeth "Dolly" Decker - Kaplan of Rifton, NY, Kathleen A. Steeger of Kingston, NY, and Sharon L. Boyd of North Ridge, CA and one brother: Michael K. Reilly of Fort Meyers Beach, FL, Grandfather of Robert Reilly Shaw And Evan R. Dieter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Pfc. James R. Reilly, US Marines, who was killed in action in Vietnam and Dennis M. Reilly.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen The family will receive their friends on Monday from 4 7 pm
