Daniel T. Landi, Sr., of Clifton Avenue, Kingston died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Kingston Hospital. He was 88.
He was born in Brooklyn on July 6, 1917, a son of the late Orlando and Philomena Landi. Mr. Landi moved to Ulster Park in the 1930's and worked in the quarries. On August 11, 1940 he married Theresa Fabbie.
Mr. Landi entered the US Navy in 1943 during WW II. For 15 years he was a bus driver for Trailways.
For 32 years he worked at I.B.M. in Kingston and Poughkeepsie as an Engineering Tech. He traveled extensively and retired in 1982. He was a member of the I.B.M. Quarter Century Club.
A life member of the V.F.W., Joyce - Schirick Post 1386, he was a longtime member of the Post 1386 Color Guard. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church.
Three brothers John, Joseph and Charles Landi, one sister Louise Eckert, one grandson Steven Michael Landi, three brothers in law Joseph, Thomas and Frank Fabbie, two sisters in law Margaret Papillo and Mary Amendola all died previously.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Theresa Fabbie Landi; one son Daniel Landi and his wife Sandra; one grandson Christopher A. Landi, four great grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Catherine and Rebecca Landi; two brothers in law Peter and Anthony Fabbie; three sisters in law Frances Polcastro, Josephine Lostumbo and Susan Mackey; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 12:00. Interment with military honors by Joyce - Schirick Post 1386 will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
