Daniel Raczak, 71, a longtime resident of Hurley, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Kingston Hospital.
Born in Hamtramck, MI, he was the son of the late Edward & Cecelia Roketa Raczak. A former IBM employee, he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
After retirement, he taught refrigeration and air conditioning at Ulster County Boces and was a driver for Trailways and UCRT. He was a DEC Hunter Safety Instructor and Coordinator until his death. He was a representative of the Federated Sportsman's Club of Ulster County for Ruby Rod & Gun Club, Morgan Hill Rod & Gun Club and the Town of Esopus Rod & Gun Club. In 2009, Dan was awarded Sportsman of the Year for the Ruby Rod & Gun Club.
Dan is survived by his wife Barbara Czapran Raczak of Hurley, a daughter, Connie Harkin and her husband Bill of Cottekill, two grandchildren, Kyle and Danny a sister, Frances Sefton and her husband Bill of Ossinike, MI, a niece Sharon and two nephews Ricky and Rocky. Five grand nieces and nephews also survive.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Dan's passion was to foster youths interest in the great outdoors.
