Daniel John Miller

Daniel John Miller of Union Center Rd., Ulster Park died Thursday, May 12, 2011, surrounded by his family, at his home. He was 84. He was born in New Paltz, a son of the late John J. and Alida Relyea Miller. Dan served in the U. S. Navy Seabees in Pacific Theater of Operations from 1945-1946. Dan married Helen Jeanette Romano on January 29, 1950. They moved to Ulster Park in 1960. A farmer and then a mechanic, for 10 years Dan owned and operated Miller's GULF in Port Ewen. For 9 years he owned and operated Miller's GULF on Morton Blvd., Town of Ulster. Beloved husband of Helen Miller, loving father and father in law of Elizabeth Mitchell and Francis "Mick" of Harleyville, PA; Dorothy Ramus and George of Ft. Montgomery; Michele Decker and Matthew of Valrico, FL; Daniel Miller Jr. and Diana of West Springfield, VA; Kathryn Bonelli and William of Saugerties; and the late John Miller; grandfather of Kelly and Jeffrey Keane, Jennifer Verdon, Francis Mitchell Jr., Maegan and David Greenberg, Michael Verdon, Jordan Miller, Audrey Decker, Ryan Bonelli, and Kathryn Miller, great grandfather of Jeffrey and Matthew Keane, Victor Allemant, Jacob, Halley and Hannah Greenberg; brother of Florence Bollin of GA, Gertrude Markle of Stone Ridge, Ruth Felice of Pittsburgh PA, Anna Mae Miller of Ellenville, Evelyn Terwilliger of Kerhonkson, Margaret Yaeger of High Falls, Alice Conklin of Kerhonkson and the late Kathryn Williams and Lucille North. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted, by Rev. Jennifer Barrows, on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Inurnment, with military honors, will be in Rosendale Plains Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
