Cynthia's first love was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren at the family camp in New Hampshire. She spent hours doing jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and dice with them all. Cooking and giving (driving) directions were her other passions and she excelled at both.
Cynthia was heavily involved in every aspect of young lives. She could not and would not say no to any request for help, be it Scouts, WH Elem. School, St. Johns or Little League or a person needing assistance that she would quietly slip money to. She worked tirelessly in the food stand at the Little League park. She was also active in the Republican party, League of Women Voters and as the (West) Hurley Coordinator to ZAHCA (Zena Area Homeowners Assn.) for the creation and initial funding of the Zena Rec. Park. She worked with many others in the Woodstock Jaycees was a backroom helper to start "Family" which has grown to what it is today. She was a very dynamic and active member of the Hurley community.
Cynthia was rightfully proud of the fact that she had worked almost her entire life, starting at the age of six when she delivered newspapers up until last week when she reluctantly retired from working for Ulster County in the Social Services Division after 23 years. Prior to that, she worked at Britts Department Store and sometimes at the beloved restaurant, Salvucci's. She will be remembered as a conscientious worker and loyal friend.
Her sister, Jane Mitchell, of Watertown, MA predeceased her. She is survived by four children, Walter "Jay" Rose, III and his wife Joanne of Kingston, Peter Rose and his wife Kim of Brattleboro, VT, Gregory Rose and his wife Kim of Phoenix, AZ, Elizabeth Wolf and her husband Charles of Andover, MA, Seven grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Cameron, Christopher, Emma, Abigail and Saige.
