Cynthia Lee Harkins

January 20, 1962 — March 23, 2015

Cynthia Lee Harkins, 53, of Kingston, passed unexpectedly Monday morning, March 23, 2015 at her home.

Cindy was born January 20, 1962 in Kingston and was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1980, SUNY Ulster (class of 1990) and SUNY New Paltz (class of 2001), earning her Bachelors of Science in education and math. She also served as past president of the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society of educators.

She was employed by SUNY New Paltz as a senior advisor for work study and education where she epitomized the welcoming spirit of the College. She played a key role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the College's Federal Work Study program. She also provided critical advising services to students and their parents regarding student financial aid programs.

Cindy was a true beacon of hope and triumph; she enjoyed life to the fullest, always willing to give back. She had been the Grand Marshall for Kingston's Relay for Life, which benefits the American

Cancer Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and being involved with her family and friends.

Above all she loved her husband Tim and her son Devin as well as her mother Mary Ella Martin

Survived by her brothers and spouses Gene Hannay and his wife Lori of Marlborough, MA, Steve Hannay and his wife Donna of Shelton, CT, Leroy Martin of Kingston, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Cindy was predeceased by her father LeRoy Martin and sister Patricia Hannay Conklin.
