Cynthia Lynn Berghahn-Sickler

July 23, 1961 — September 9, 2022

Kingston

Cynthia Lynn Berghahn-Sickler, 61, of Kingston, NY, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Westchester Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. She was born July 23,1961, in Bronxville, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Roberta (Ford) Berghahn. She grew up in Poughkeepsie NY where she graduated from Arlington High School and attended the New Hackensack Reformed Church. She graduated with a business degree from Pace University. In 1985, she moved to Kingston, NY.

Throughout her life, she always went above and beyond while working in positions that centered around caring for others. For years, she ran a childcare center out of her home; she served as the director of Early Childhood Education at the YWCA of Ulster County; She lovingly arranged home health care services as a service coordinator at A&T Heathcare. She also worked as a server at several restaurants over the years most recently, at Christina’s. She lived to care for others which was clear to anyone who ever sat at her one of her tables.

She loved creating events, cooking, gardening, swimming, kayaking, and volunteering. She was always actively involved in the community. Music was one of her passions. She encouraged and supported her sons to grow and share their musical talents (all of them are musicians). She was a devoted member of The Redeemer Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and served on the church council.

Cynthia’s love, compassion, and giving spirit will be forever cherished by her life partner Robert “Mickey” Day; her sons, Kenneth and Daughter-in-law Rachel Sickler of Kingston, Adam Sickler of Nashville, Tenn., and Aaron Sickler of Brooklyn, NY. Her siblings Robert (Lisa) Berghahn of Pouquage, NY; Catherine Berghahn of Johannesburg, South Africa; and Richard (Tanya Clifford) Berghahn of Poughkeepsie, NY, many nieces and nephews and an extended family of cousins and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents whom she cared for through their long-term illnesses. Cynthia will also be remembered for her ability to include so many people in her family. From her clients to the children she worked with, to her neighbors, and anyone she met, she opened her arms and made connections. Even in difficult times she always found a way to help anyone in need. She was known to open her home and table to people from all walks of life.
