Clifford C. Nichols, 88, a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his home.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Ward & Carrie Finch Nichols. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp, having served during WWII. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 21 for many years.
He was survived by four children, Beverly J. Rigney and her husband Thomas of the Town of Ulster, Bruce V. Nichols of the Town of Ulster, Donald J. Nichols and his wife Margaret of Kingston and Janet M. Beesmer and her husband Ronald of Kingston. A sister, Muriel Marz of Rifton, eight grandchildren, Jill Delaney, Pamela Rigney, Michelle Nichols, Steven Nichols, Jennifer Naccarato, Daniel Nichols, Eric Beesmer and Alyson Chilcott. Six great grandchildren, Keira, Liam, Jackson, Anthony, Evan and Adam along with many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Staccio Nichols, who died in 1992, two brothers, Gerald & Harold Nichols and two sisters, Byerneice Brown and Ruth Winchell.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday at the funeral home at 11:30 AM with Pastor Kendra VanHouten from the Fair Street Church officiating. Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
